How Ministries of Grace Provides Disaster Relief to Displaced Families in North Georgia

Be the Hands and Feet of Change

At Ministries of Grace, we believe that volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission. Without the passion and dedication of people like you, we wouldn’t be able to serve the hundreds of families who count on us each week. As part of our Comprehensive Support system, volunteers play a critical role in delivering food, offering mentorship, providing crisis support, and creating real change in the lives of those who need it most.

Whether you have a few hours to give or a desire to invest long-term, there’s a place for you on our team—and there’s a family waiting for the hope you can bring.

Volunteer Opportunities at Ministries of Grace

We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities so that everyone, no matter their skills or schedule, can find a way to make a real difference.

Food Assistance Programs

Hunger relief is at the core of what we do, and volunteers are essential to making it happen.

  • Pantry Volunteers: Help stock, organize, and distribute groceries at our Meals By Grace pantry every Wednesday.
  • Home Delivery Teams: Pack and deliver a full week’s worth of food to families who can’t reach the pantry.
  • Food Sorting & Packing: Assist with preparing meal kits and organizing donations for efficient distribution.
  • Communication Volunteers: Make phone calls to check volunteer availability—because without enough hands, we can’t meet the needs before us.

When you serve in food assistance, you’re not just delivering meals—you’re delivering hope.

Economic Aid and Essential Resources

Families need more than food to thrive. Volunteers help extend our reach by supporting:

  • Clothing and Hygiene Kit Sorting: Organize donated clothes, hygiene products, and household supplies.
  • Seasonal Supply Distributions: Hand out school supplies, winter coats, emergency kits, and more.
  • Transportation Assistance: Help provide rides or deliver gas cards to families in need.

Every item distributed is a step toward stability for a family fighting to get ahead.

Mentorship and Childcare Support

Children and families often need more than resources—they need connection and encouragement.

  • Mentorship Program: Build weekly relationships with children in need of guidance, support, and positive role models.
  • CAPS Application Assistance: Help parents navigate Georgia’s childcare subsidy programs to open new opportunities.
  • Early Childhood Support: Provide childcare services so parents can attend job training, counseling sessions, or workshops.

Sometimes, the greatest impact comes not from what you give—but from simply showing up and caring.

Emergency and Crisis Support

When disaster strikes a family, time is everything. Volunteers make it possible for us to respond quickly and compassionately.

  • Crisis Response Volunteers: Be ready to help with emergency food distribution, shelter referrals, or resource deliveries.
  • Referral and Advocacy Teams: Connect families to critical housing, financial, and mental health services.
  • Community Outreach: Distribute information about available programs so families know where to turn when life takes a hard turn.

You could be the helping hand that keeps a family from falling through the cracks.

Why Volunteering Matters

When you give your time, you aren’t just filling a need—you’re offering hope, dignity, and the reminder that no one is alone. Volunteers are often the first smiling face a struggling family sees, and that human connection is as powerful as any resource we provide.

Through your service, you can:

  • Feed hungry families
  • Keep children safe and supported
  • Provide emergency relief during crises
  • Mentor the next generation toward a brighter future

Your time has the power to change everything.

How to Get Started

Becoming a volunteer is easier than you might think—and the impact you make will last far beyond your time spent with us.

  • Donate: If you can’t volunteer in person, you can still make a huge impact through a financial gift that fuels our programs.
  • Volunteer: Fill out a simple form to match your skills and availability with current needs.

Every role matters. Every hour counts. Every action makes a difference.
