A Family of Five and an Autistic Toddler

This family was first referred to Ministries of Grace by their children’s school. The mother had just lost her remote job when the company she worked for went out of business. She wasn’t even sure she would receive her final paycheck.

Her husband works construction, often gone for weeks at a time. With three children at home, including a toddler on the autism spectrum who had just lost access to therapy due to lost insurance, the family was holding on by a thread.

When we met with the mom, she told us she only needed food for her kids—just every other week. But we reminded her: we’re here for the whole family.

Because of monthly donor support, we were able to provide:

• Regular food deliveries
• Help navigating insurance options and applying for new support
• Summer clothes for the children
• Case management to walk with the family through recovery

A Determined Single Mom Finds Her Fit

She came into our Graceworks Training Center unsure of her next step. A single mom, already holding a college degree, but it wasn’t a field she wanted to work in. She was just a few classes away from completing a second degree in a field she loved, but she needed a job now to make ends meet.

She also needed childcare, job flexibility, and emotional encouragement. That’s exactly what she found at Graceworks.

With support from our staff, she:

• Reworked her resume to highlight transferable strengths
• Practiced her interviewing skills with a mentor
• Found a work-from-home job within two weeks

Now she’s working, parenting, and finishing her education—all without needing to choose between them.
