Volunteer Ministry Opportunities: How Volunteers Carried the Mission Further Than Ever Before

Hunger doesn’t take breaks. And thanks to supporters like you, neither did we.

In 2024, Ministries of Grace recorded one of the most impactful years since our founding. Meals by Grace alone delivered over 40 million meals across North Georgia—meeting immediate needs while restoring dignity to thousands of families. And we didn’t just feed people. We brought relief, consistency, and hope into kitchens where it had gone missing.

Responding to a Growing Crisis: Hunger in Georgia

Food insecurity continues to be a problem in Georgia, disproportionately affecting children, seniors, and working families. In some counties, 1 in 5 children struggle to get enough to eat. We saw this need up close, and we responded by scaling every part of our operations:

  • Weekly home deliveries to families in crisis
  • A growing client-choice pantry in Cumming, GA
  • Mobile delivery routes reaching rural areas
  • Break Bag programs for students during school breaks

These weren’t just meals. They were lifelines.

One mother told us, “You brought food right to our doorstep when I had nothing. I didn’t even have gas money to get to a food bank.”

The Power of Break Bags: Feeding Kids When School Is Out

More than 4.3 million of the meals we delivered came through our Break Bag program. These bags are filled with kid-friendly, shelf-stable foods that students can prepare on their own during holidays and school breaks.

Many of these children rely on free or reduced school meals. When school shuts down, so does their access to consistent nutrition. Break Bags ensure they don’t go hungry.

Each bag is carefully packed with foods that are both nutritious and easy for children to prepare on their own. Protein items like tuna packets or single-serving peanut butter give them strength and sustenance. Carbohydrate-rich foods such as pasta and rice help keep them full longer. Fruit cups and kid-friendly snacks add a touch of variety and joy to every meal. And perhaps most meaningfully, each bag includes a handwritten note from a volunteer—a simple but powerful reminder that someone cares.

What Your Gift Can Do

When you give to Meals by Grace, you’re not just buying food. You’re fueling a system that makes sure it gets to the right people at the right time.

  • $25 purchases a case of fruit cups for Break Bags
  • $75 stocks a month’s worth of kid-friendly snacks and breakfast items
  • $300 helps us deliver groceries to four families for a week

Every dollar you give directly supports a family in crisis. Your generosity becomes the difference between an empty shelf and a stocked pantry, between worry and relief. If you’ve ever wondered whether a small gift can make a big impact, this is the proof.

From Recipient to Volunteer: Tayler’s Story

When Tayler first connected with Meals by Grace, she was newly single, raising two children, and unsure how to make it through the week. Grocery delivery changed everything.

Now, she’s one of our most faithful volunteers, helping pack and distribute the same bags that once sustained her family. Her journey from recipient to giver reflects what this ministry is all about: restoring dignity and creating transformation.

Monthly Supporters Make It All Possible

One-time donations meet urgent needs. But when you become a monthly investor through The Bridge, you create lasting impact that goes far beyond a single meal.

Monthly investors allow us to plan ahead, expand routes, stock shelves consistently, and say “yes” when emergencies arise. As food insecurity grows year after year, this kind of steady support has never been more important.

The Bridge isn’t just about recurring gifts—it’s about changing outcomes. Monthly investors help break the cycle of poverty by ensuring families can count on more than just a one-time delivery. They allow us to walk alongside people until they’re back on their feet—and then some.

By joining The Bridge, you become the foundation of Meals by Grace. Your commitment fuels transformation week after week, season after season, year after year.

Together, we can make sure no family in our community goes hungry.
