Macy’s MTech Team Rallies to Fight Hunger in North Georgia

In an extraordinary show of generosity and team spirit, Macy’s MTech Team raised an astounding $31,319.18 during their March Bag Hunger Month campaign, donating every cent to Meals by Grace.

A Corporate Campaign Fueled by Compassion

Each year in March, Macy’s holds Bag Hunger Month, a company-wide initiative to combat food insecurity. For their 2025 campaign, the MTech Team, the Technology division of Macy’s at the Johns Creek location, chose to support Meals by Grace, a home-delivery food program that meets the urgent nutritional needs of struggling families in North Georgia. More than just a meal service, Meals by Grace is part of a broader mission to walk alongside families facing hunger and hardship, offering not just food but hope, dignity, and a pathway to long-term stability.

Why Meals by Grace? According to Debbie Currie and Tonja Jackson, Macy’s campaign leads, several employees had previously volunteered with the organization and were deeply moved by its mission and the lives it impacts. Choosing to support a smaller, local nonprofit gave the team a personal stake in the cause, and they didn’t hold back.

Creative Fundraising and Community Spirit

The entire Johns Creek building got involved throughout the month-long campaign. From pickleball, cricket, and other friendly money-raising competitions between departments, the spirit of giving was contagious. Teams were led by “Giving Captains,” and one captain even pledged to run a mile for every $1,000 raised. True to his word, he ran 22 miles—cheered on by his team and even outpaced by his own VP in a spirited exec competition!

Tonja emphasized that giving back is embedded in Macy’s company culture. “They’re not just committed to innovation in tech,” she shared, “they’re committed to being part of the solution when it comes to hunger.”

The Power of Choosing Local Impact

For Ministries of Grace, this fundraiser is about more than dollars; it’s about deep, personal transformation. Every gift helps fund meals delivered directly to families’ homes, and for many of these families, that support comes alongside custom care plans crafted by licensed social workers to break the cycle of poverty.

From helping parents find affordable childcare to offering budgeting support, job training, or even counseling services, Ministries of Grace goes beyond food to provide wholistic care that leads to lasting stability.

A Heartfelt Thank You from Our Team to the MTech Team

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity, enthusiasm, and heart the MTech Team poured into this fundraiser. Their partnership is a testament to what happens when corporate teams choose to care deeply and act boldly.

Every meal delivered, every care plan launched, and every child fed this month has the MTech Team name behind it, and we are thankful.
